Please be aware that all our guidelines and instructions have been specifically written with the safety of our patients and staff in mind.

There are three types of tests available for the COVID19 Coronavirus which are detailed below.

British-made SureScreen rapid COVID-19 blood antibody test and the Public Health England - approved Abbott laboratory test (full blood draw) conducted at our clinic.

This has also been recommended by Government advisors in Belgium and France.

Please note we do not do home testing for coronavirus antibodies.

The latest research for the detection of SARS-CoV-2 antibodies can be found here

TEST

PURPOSE

RT-PCR Test
(Swab)

If a patient has symptoms of the virus or recently in contact with someone who has the virus, the Nasal swab can confirm the presence of the active virus.

Cost £185.00

This test is collected and undertaken by the patient.

Antibody Test
(Finger Prick Test)

If a patient has been potentially exposed to the virus more than 2 weeks ago, then this test will determine whether a patient has had an immune response.

The SURESCREEN tests have a 99.6% accuracy rate and 100% sensitivity for past infections (IgG) after 20 days post-infection.

This has also been recommended by Government advisors in Belgium and France.

We are currently using SureScreen COVID-19 antibody test kits, which are being used at Guys and St Thomas’ and King’s College hospitals.

Cost £85.00

This test is done at the practice.

Antibody Test
(Blood Test)

If a patient has been potentially exposed to the virus more than 2 weeks ago, then this test will determine whether a patient has had an immune response.

The host immune system reacts to the infection by SARS-CoV-2 by producing antibodies from a few days to 2 weeks and beyond.

This Abbott laboratory test is government approved.

The persistence of IgG antibodies allows identification of people who have been infected by SARS-CoV-2

Cost £120.00

This blood draw (from the arm)

is done at the practice.
